In this day and age of so many deals and offers and promotions you see marketing everywhere and you don’t know what to think. It’s in the supermarket, on the TV, on the radio, everywhere. Being that today’s dentist lives in this same world, people I am sure think it’s about the same when it comes to him. Of course everyone is looking to save some money to be able to get ahead. This is a consumer’s culture where we all are trying to save a buck. But even then sometimes it seems there are too many deals out there.
Others may wonder about a dentist who is offering something for free like what’s the deal? Is he out of patients, or desperate, or just too commercialized? Actually these are just ways to draw in more patients and give them a chance to see what you can do for them. Like in Costco or Sam’s club and such stores, there are hundreds of options to choose from. That’s why they will often have someone giving away free samples of certain products. It can be pretty expensive to bet a spot in a store to promote your product, but they do it to draw in customers and give them a chance to try out their product in hopes they will buy.
Not all dentists do this but you have to find a way to promote yourself and get the patients you need. Of course you can’t do everything for free, but there are certain services and products that you can afford to give away to help let people get to know you. But when you do this, you must give them the best you have, you only have one chance to make a good impression and this is it. You have to put your best foot forward in those 10 minutes that you do a cleaning or whatever for free, your prestige and reputation are on the line. This will give people a chance to get to know you and judge your services and the next time they need a dentist they will most likely think of you.
The very fact that someone opens their mouth for you is a sign of trust. It’s kind of like a gynecologist; it is something delicate and somewhat intimate in a sense. Of course once you have someone there you should get all their info to follow up on them. Their phone number, e-mail and even facebook. Any one today understands that when they get something for free it’s also in hopes that the company will be able to sell them something after.
The consumers mind set is a special one and you have to know what you are doing when you give away a service or product. You have to know when and where and how. Always give the very best of yourself, your services and materials when you do this. Everything should be of the very best quality. You want them to remember you and leave with a good impression so that they will come back. Give them a sample of what they can expect when they come back.
In this modern world of marketing almost always when someone gives something away it’s to draw in a customer to sell them something. There may be very many options out there and most of them are good, so you have to find the best way to promote yourself if you want customers.
